Skrillex opened his week in New York City with a bang at the Webster Theater this Tuesday. In true Skril fashion, his headlining shows at the famous Pacha, Roseland Ballroom, and Terminal 5 sold out in less than four minutes, so I took advantage of an amazing Tuesday night. If you’ve never been to the Webster, it is a large labyrinth that consists of various rooms that have DJs performing simultaneously. It can be a bit confusing with people everywhere and music calling your name from every corner, but the only place to be after 11 P.M. was in the Main Ballroom.
After an amazing opening set by DJ AC Slater, Skrillex hit the stage after 1 A.M. He laid down almost every track from his latest Bangarang’ EP but that was far from it. In addition, he also dropped many of his now classic beats and a great mixture of his remixes; including “Esta Noche” – Munchi, “Cinema” – Benny Benassi, and “In For the Kill” – La Roux. Lets just say I was drenched in sweat from checking my inhibitions at the door. The performance was highly-involved with the crowd and very intimate, providing nothing but a majestic night with Skrillex. If you are lucky enough to have tickets for any of the shows this weekend, you will not be disappointed. As Skrillex prepares for a European Tour that runs through May, he is sure to not disappoint us with his last weekend in the States.
