The build up to this event goes back to the beginning of the year when React Presents announced that Zeds Dead would be their bass heavy bangers back to Chicago along with AraabMuzik, Dillon Francis and Midnight Conspiracy. This in many people’s minds was the main event for the weekend and the hours leading up to the short commute over to Congress Theater were filled with one awesome pondePreParty at The Dankles HQ.
Chicago’s very own Midnight Conspiracy graced the stage first to serve as the local opener and delivered the stand out performance of the weekend without a doubt. Though I have seen Louis and Mikul play more times than I can remember, this set was unlike any other due to the unveiling of The Eye (check video above). Never have a I seen Congress packed with so many people going HAM at 9:30 before; you could have easily thought that the dynamic duo were headlining the event for pete’s sake. Stand outs from their set include the following:
AraabMUZIK was supposed to grace the stage next but because of a flight delay he was unable to make it to Congress. (Though he did play at The Mid late night). The show went on nonetheless with Dillon Francis stepping up and dropping moombahton bangers after bangers for the crowd to get loose too. I combined forces with the lovely ladies at Mac and Smash and had access the best seats in the house as we pon.de.floor’d on top of chairs for the duration of Dillon’s set. Standout’s played were:
Download : Pull Up Wheel Up (Dillon Francis Remix) – Sinden
Download : Who Is Ready to Jump (Dillon Francis Remix) – Chuckie
After raging on top of chairs for about an hour, the security guards at Congress decided to deny us having any more unobstructed fun and forced us to move from our position right before Zed’s Dead set. But nothing could stop me from seeing the gruesome dubstep duo throw down the bass heavy bangers I so desperately craved. So after a quick relocation move, we yet again had access to see Zed Dead with special guest Omar LinX turn Congress upside down with a combination of an amazing set list as well as stunning visuals that kept the crowd going for the rest of the night. Standouts played were:
ENCORES (they dropped dubbed out versions of these classic songs)
In conclusion, the night was a HUGE success but the weekend was far from over. Next on the menu, Koan Sound and Gemini!
