Surprise! Surprise! On Wednesday night Our favorite longhaired DJ, Mr. Steve Aoki (along with a surprise special guest) took a short break from his grueling tour schedule to play a FREE spontaneous concert at Terminal 5 NYC for Trident Gum and, most importantly, for us! Steve’s record label Dim Mak Records were awesome enough to give away 500 tickets to this event and we were lucky enough to snag a few. Knowing that it’s never a dull moment (or dry even) whenever we catch an Aoki set, we mentally prepared ourselves to get champagne rained on and expect a cake or two to the face. Even did a few push-ups so we can hold up this professional crowd surfer. And so it began! Steve blessed us with tracks from his wildly popular “Wonderland” album, tore the roof off with his and Afrojack’s “No Beef” and somewhere in his hour set dropped the SICK new “Fuck Off” track with Knife Party.
After all the Champagne, cake, confetti, and crowd surfing (which was all awesome) it was finally time for the surprise guest! Now imagine the looks on our young faces when we found out it was 80’s Pop/Rock band Duran Duran, at an 18+ event we’re more than positive not many knew who they were. We still jammed, nonetheless. Aoki mixed a classic Duran Duran track “Hungry Like The wolf” and it wasn’t too shabby.
All in all we had an awesome time and just want to thank the Trident team for making this all possible, Steve Aoki for being amazing, and Dim Mak Records for hooking us up with the passes! We definitely went home with too many packs of Trident. No such thing as too much gum, I guess.
