With the hugely successful Spring Awakening Music Fest now in the books, the good people over at React are heading up north to take the party outside city limits and into the wilderness as they present the first ever Summer Set Music & Camping Festival. We are looking forward to packing up our cruiser, bringing the necessary essentials, and experiencing 3 awesome days of live music as we enjoy one last camping festival before the summer ends. Here is a rundown of our picks for the Day 1 and if you haven’t bought at least a tix or pass yet…..DON’T DELAY ANY LONGER!

Manic Focus (Second Stage, 2:30 pm – 3 pm)
This might be the first time we’ve featured an artist at the Second Stage in our picks thus-far, but such is the magnitude of what Manic Focus brings to each live performance that his 2:30 set should not go unattended. Being able to boast the talent of playing a 100% original set each time is just one of many reasons why we suggest making your way to see Manic Focus throw down!

Claude VonStroke (Hockey Rink, 4:30 pm – 5:30 pm)
Dirtybird Records will be sending it to the max with an appearance from it’s owner and cheif Mr. Claude VonStroke come mid afternoon. Fan’s of American house and techno can rejoice in fact that this dood packs a serious punch when it comes to dropping beats that could send your body into dancing maneuvers. Lets get sweaty folks and beat that bird with a bat!

Listen: Beat That Bird – Claude VonStroke

Paper Diamond (Hockey Rink, 6:30-7:30)
The Boulder local entrepreneur and producer Paper Diamond will be killing it at the hockey rink at 6:30 on sunday. If you for whatever reason haven’t got a set of his at previous festival, make sure to check him out. Combining glitch hop, dubstep, and dance rhythms into one  energetic set is the PD way. I mean, who doesn’t want to watch a talented DJ rock an I-pad?

Lotus (Main Stage, 7:30-8:30)
For those of you that are into the electronic jam scene and don’t know Lotus, that’s a damn shame. Every festival I go to, I make sure I check out their set. Why? Because they’re the best at mixing electronic aspects into their music (sorry Sound Tribe fans). They are also all incredible musicians, and deserve you’re support. Make sure to check them out, it’s gonna be a great time.

Listen: Dowrn – Lotus

Listen: Break Build Burn – Lotus

Black Star (Main Stage 8:30-10:00)
Since the day my brother introduced the hip-hop super group Black Star to me back in 7th grade, I’ve been hooked. Consisting of hip-hop legends Mos Def and Talib Kweli, Black Star spits truth over some of the illest beats you’ve ever heard. With an album in the works we can all expect some brand new material.

Listen: Definition – Black Star

Listen: RE: Definition – Black Star

Pretty Lights (Main Stage 10:30-11:30)
What more can be said about this sampling master that hasn’t been said already. Derek Vincent Smith, better known by his stage name Pretty Lights has been changing the very way the EDM scene works since the instant he hit the scene in 2008. 4 years later, he’s become one of the titans in this industry, and for good reason. You all know why you should be at this set. I expect to see you there!
