Longtime friend of Florence + The Machine’s frontwoman and collaborator with SBTRKT, Jessie Ware, released her debut album this year and was almost unanimously adored by critics for her beautiful lyricism, wide vocal range, and ear for amazing downtempo/electronic beats that compliment these strengths. Perseus reworked one of the many highlights from the album, “Night Light,” (watch the video for the original above) and instead of putting his usual house-“tropical euphoria” spin on it, smartly decided that less is more, ensuring that Jessie Ware’s vocals are still the forefront of the song. He replaces the piano and slow guitars with synth melodies and ooh’s and aah’s, while just barely distorting her vocals in certain parts of the song, creating an excellent soundtrack for a Sunday afternoon or studying.
