One of the most successful groups of the growing Deep House craze, Art Department boasts an extremely trippy and ethereal sound. A kind of acquired taste (definitely not for the fans of the monotonous buildup-drop-buildup-drop), Art Department sends you on a intrinsic, quirky journey on every one of their tracks. The Canadian duo consists of Kenny Glasgow, a house legend who offers original forlorn vocals on most Art Department songs, and Jonny White, owner of No. 19 Recorsds, who has been a promoting for years but has just recently moved into the DJ world. The two met while collaborating on the remix of Zed’s Don’t Break It and the chemistry was so strong that they quickly became friends and decided to continue on with the collaboration. Highlighted by extremely eerie vocals, and intricate deep house bass lines, Art Department has played at venues worldwide and are rapidly becoming one of the most sought after artists internationally. Having met them at Ultra last year, I can’t express enough how upbeat and extraordinarily friendly these characters are. Sure to be in the music industry for decades to come, the two have only begun their mystical musical journey together.
For those of you in Chicago, the two will be playing a 21+ show this November 21st at Spy Bar, early bird tickets are only 12 dollars and you can purchase them HERE. This is not a show to sleep on!
