Ever since the announcement of Kendrick Lamar’s debut album, good kid, m.A.A.d city, it has been my most anticipated album of the year, and now it’s finally almost here. To tide us over until the October 22 release date, Kendrick shared a new song with us that features none other than West Coast legend Dr. Dre. Kendrick wastes no time stating his place in the era of West Coast hip-hop, declaring, “This is King Kendrick Lamar.” The two trade verses Snoop-and-Dre-style over the Just Blaze-produced beat with a simple hook that ensures the focus of the song is the amazing bars these two have to offer. If I was excited for this album before, now the wait is literally unbearable.

Kendrick Lamar can rap so good that Dre didn’t even feel the need to write his own bars apparently.
