I only just recently found the young talent that is Ké Fernandes (a.k.a. Groove Delight), but her extremely energetic and sinister sound has already become a favorite within my library. Hailing from São Paulo, Brazil, Groove Delight draws on inspiration from the local tech house, techno, and nu-disco scene. These influences combine to create a sound that has the aggressive energized basslines of a “peak set” song, the menacingly dark vocals of deep house, and the funk of nu-disco. Only producing for three years, she shows a lot of promise, releasing with the likes of Lo Kik Records, Miami Underground Records, and soon with Punch Underground. Her smash hit “Possibility,” and it’s b-side “Believe,” with their steady basslines got early support from Magda, Richie Hawtin, and Luciano, which propelled her into the international spotlight. Since then, she’s dabbled with a more G-house feel on tracks like “Take A Nap” (up for free download below) as well the a dark techno-y “On This Tonight”. Being only 19, this rising DJ is sure to make an impact on the house scene in the coming years.
