Not too long ago when React Presents wasn’t so infamous for consistently bringing some of THE BEST musical talent to the midwest, they introduced a show known as Freaky Deaky that forever changed the plans and expectations for all those looking to party during the Halloween season. The first installment brought the likes of Chromeo, Boys Noize, and Crystal Castles to a hot, sweaty, wild costume filled Congress Theater; future performances from A-Trak, Theophilus London, Laidback Luke, and Wolfgang Gartner saw an uptick in mayhem from both the artists and the crowd. Now in it’s 4th year, the people at the helm of the madness have turned a single event into a week of non-stop partying! We don’t know which will be harder: deciding what shows to attend or simply surviving the chaos but here is a breakdown of the events we will be attending between 10/24 – 10/31.

October 24th: Justice (Tickets Here)

On December 31st of 2008, Congress Theater made history for itself when Xavier de Rosnay & Gaspard Augé came to Chicago to ring in the New Year at a concert that two Dankles members attended and still hold as their #1 show of all-time. Four years later, the good people at React have decided to bring back the legendary duo known as Justice to kick Halloween Week off proper!

The signature event React conducts has the makings of being the best one yet with a lineup (The Bloody Beetroots, Wolfgang Gartner, Midnight Conspiracy, Nobody Beats the Drum, Popseka) of heavy hitters that will feed your audible appetite whether you hang in the lobby or take refuge in the main room. Dressing up for the occasion is a MUST if you don’t want to stick out like a sore thumb, so we suggest you piece together anything you can and be prepared for a long night of fun and breakin a sweat !

Never have we seen such a calamity over a show announcement then when we found out that Freaky Deaky would be given a 2 night run with the likes of Knife Party, Tommy Trash, Kill The Noise, Baauer, and Zane Lowe blowing the bejesus out of Congress Theater. If you were lucky enough to obtain tickets before this sold out then be VERY grateful because you will be seeing the best of every type of genre all in one place.

In the foreign lands of the U.K. lives a duo named Disclosure, and they will be embarking on their first American tour ever beginning next week, spreading sexy club vibes and intricately-laiden experimental house to only a select few cities around the country. Chicago will be one of those lucky locations, and with a combination of live instruments and mixing, these guys give an incrediblly refreshing feel to the American house scene. With hits such as “Latch feat. Sam Smith” and “Running (Disclosure Remix)”, anyone with an urge for intimate and groovy comfort within a club, we highly suggest you attend this amazing performance.

October 31st: Sonar on Tour (Tickets Here)

If trick or treating is not up your ally on Halloween then why not let the people of Sonar give you some fun and excitement on the big day? Sonar is a household name for those residing in Europe due to putting together an amazing festival in Barcelona each year, but now they are taking their show on the road and bringing Die Antwoord, Gesaffelstein, Anzari & III, Tiga, Nic Fanciulla, Paul Kalkbrenner, and Seth Troxler to Congress Theater. With a lineup that stacked we see no other option then attending what surely will be one great Halloween celebration!
