Hailing from the deep house hub of London, Dexter Kane is a relatively new name on the scene. His dark deep basslines have been released by the likes of OFF Records, Lower East Records, and Akbal Music the last couple of years, but more recently Dexter has been focusing on establishing his own record label, Shadow Sanctuary. With the plan of releasing a trilogy of original EP’s to kick-start the label, Dexter released “The Craft/Beta Blocker” earlier this year. “The Realness,” the second-of-three in the series was released today, and the EP encompasses the same vibe that Dexter has been trying to set the past few years: sleazy, extremely deep, and sexy all at the same time. Dexter exemplifies his ability to synthesize deep house, nu-disco, and g-house all at once throughout the EP’s three original tracks, and sets the tone for the future of his label. Two masterful remixes are also on this release; Click Click‘s booty-tech remix of “We Are Polyphonic” (which is my favorite track of the album), and August Jakobsen‘s darker rendition of “Hello Analogue.” The EP futher proves that Dexter will be a driving force behind the ever-evolving deep house scene.
