Olivier Grégoire has been making music for almost a decade now, but it is only in the last couple of years that he has turned to his gangster-house alias, Kolombo, to produce the majority of his work under. Already being picked up by some of the largest labels in deep house, including Solomun’s 2DIY4, Kompakt Records, and LouLou Records, Kolombo has been on fire in 2012, becoming one of the leaders in the growing G-house scene. Achieving a sound comparable to Amine Edge, Kolombo is known for his deep sleazy basslines and thuggish rap samples. His most recent EP, “My Own Business,” received critical acclaim as one of the best albums of the year, and is one of my personal favorite releases of 2012. From the catchy title track to the stabbing aggressive closer, “Dancing On The Floor,” the albums is jam-packed with dancefloor burners, and shows exactly what Kolombo has to offer in the future. The Belgian has also shown his skills as a DJ in the past couple of months as well, touring worldwide and being featured as the DJ for the esteemed Diynamic Radioshow.
For those of you privileged enough to live in Denver, Kolombo will be playing a show via Roofless Entertainment on February 22nd, so be sure to check out the event page and RSVP!
