Tis that time of the year again as droves of people round up their wares and ready themselves for the trek on down to Tucson, Arizona for the annual Gem and Mineral show. The Tucson Gem and Mineral show has set a standard worldwide and is in fact the largest in the United Sates; yet that is not what we are here to bring to your attention today. Providing gems aren’t the only thing on your mind all weekend we want to turn your mind towards some other fun to be had while down in Tucson!
This year we are lucky enough to witness beautiful rebirth of the Tucson Gem & Jam, after a 3 year hiatus the festival is back for its 7th year of glory. Backed with a stellar lineup of both musical and visual artists this will definitely be a great addition to your trip down to Tucson (or the perfect reason to come to Tucson). Boasting two stages (one indoor/one outdoor) Gem & Jam will showcase musical performances by a truly talented band of artists. Dribbling from down-tempo electronic landscapes to hyphy bass driven sets I’m sure we will get a little taste of everything down there in a few weeks!
The musical artists currently on the bill consist of: Michal Menert, Random Rab, Polish Ambassador, DJ Vadim, Herobust, Russ Liquid, Thriftworks, Kaminanda, Signal Path, 8 Minutes to Burn, Phoseph, Corbin Dooley, Electric Feel DJ’s, Upwords Movement, The Bennu, Toby Roberts, Adem Joel, Elfkowitz, NiT GriT, Vibesquad, Octopus Nebula, Project Aspect, The Flying Skulls, Smash & Grab, The Digital Connection, Ill Mannered, Future Simple Project, Kruza Kid, Smokovich, Kyma, NVO, Bogl, kLL sMTH, Afromonk, and Sporeganic Endoplasmic.
In addition to the musical acts going on each evening we will also be gifted by the presence of many other forms of artists. Gem & Jam is unlike that of any other festival, here they create a synergy through integrating music, art, gems, and minerals into one harmonious weekend. Fueling the visual side of things we are lucky enough to be graced with the presence of world renowned artist Alex Grey and his wife Allyson all three nights, along with other live painting sessions from Damon Soule, Oliver Vernon, and Des10. All of the visuals and projection mapping will be done by Johnathan Singer for the weekend. If this is already has you changing your plans and is pulling you towards Tucson it’s still not too late to still get yourself a pass!
