If you are a huge Postal Service fan like myself, these past few weeks have been incredibly exciting. First, we heard that the classic album Give Up from Ben Gibbard (of Death Cab for Cutie) and Jimmy Tamborello (of Dntel) would be getting the reissue treatment, complete with a deluxe edition that features rarities and brand new tracks. Then the duo announced a string of US dates for the first time in ten years, and is even bringing vocalist Jenny Lewis along for the ride (who provided vocals for many Postal Service tracks). Now today we have heard the first song from the Postal Service since 2003, and nothing has changed- which is a great thing. With less than a dozen tracks from the Postal Service for us to wrap our heads around, anything new from the band is greatly welcomed and they haven’t strayed far from the sound that made their debut album go platinum.
The 10th Anniversary Deluxe Reissue of Give Up comes out 4/19 on Sub Pop records. Check out their upcoming tour dates here.
