Not much is known about the L.A. native going by the name of Banks, as her soundcloud had less than 1,000 followers until the past week. This bio is taken from IAMSOUND: “Effortlessly balancing her gift for honest, poetic perspectives on love and humanity with a voice that gained her overnight attention from the music industry’s most important curators – Banks is poised for massive things in 2013. Drawing from inspirations like Fiona Apple and Miss Lauryn Hill, Banks focuses on the duality of soulful earthly emotion and ethereal atmospheric sounds. The Los Angeles native and self-taught pianist, vocalist, and songwriter will release her debut EP on IAMSOUND in early 2013.” When Banks released “Fall Over” I asked myself first when is her debut album coming out, and secondly I was wondering how long it would take before someone discovered this gem and flipped the already crazy production into a banger. Leave it to Mad Decent’s own Djemba Djemba to get the job done, turning this vocal masterpiece into a song that drops into a hard hitting trap infused rework of an already infectious song. We hosted a Jiberish x Djemba Djemba mixtape “All City Champs”, a while back which is excellent so if you haven’t given this a peep, it is well worth it to Download/Stream HERE. I would highly recommend listening to the original track as well as we have featured it in one of our previous Sunday Music Relief weekly posts. Banks is ready for big things so make sure you keep an eye out for her this year.
