With the hype surrounding Major Lazer and their much anticipated Free The Universe album at an all-time high, I think it’s safe to say the music world as a whole is at attention with the April 16th release date being 4 days away. We at The Dankles have followed the project over the course of 2 years and reported via our social media outlets the official tracklist after the group sent the details over the iTunes for pre-ordering purposes. The album is stacked and features collaboration work with some of music’s elite (Wyclef John, Vampire Weekend, Flux Pavilion, Laidback Luke amongst others), but there was one track that caught my eye over the rest.
Skream’s contributions to the drum & bass/dubstep community will go down in history with many believing he helped pioneer the movement that is still sweeping the nation. He completely cultivated a unique sound that many have tried and failed to replicate. After seeing that Skream had laid a touch to the bass-heavy banger that is “Jah No Partial,” I tuned in closely to Benga and his radio show hoping for a chance to hear an early preview of the song. Skream did an excellent job infusing a garage and dub oriented style on this one and I look forward to this being played featured in artists sets in the coming months. Take a listen and check back with us on Tuesday for a review of Free The Universe by Major Lazer. Enjoy mes Amis
