The growing anticipation and wait for Hot Natured’s remarkable single “Reverse Skydiving” is finally over. Undoubtably THE song at this years Winer Music Conference, this may have my vote for the track of the year. Dropped on Pete Tong‘s FFRR Records today as a single for their forthcoming full-length LP later this year, “Reverse Skydiving” gives us a sneak peek of what to expect from the album. Jamie Jones has explained that the album “ties in some weird stuff to do with, like, planets and spirituality,” but that he “wants it to go as far as it can, and reach as many people as possible, without compromising anything, we’re making sure it’s suitable for radio.”
Started back in 2009, Hot Natured was initially the collaborative effort between then-rising deep house producers Lee Foss and Jamie Jones. Less than a year after their first release on Culprit Records, entitled H.E.A.D.S., the two decided to establish a forward-thinking deep house label to house all of the innovative new-age underground club music. Their brain-child, Hot Creations, has since become arguably the biggest thing in deep house, signing dozens of brilliant young producers to their crew in the past few years. On their own, Foss and Jones have been absolutely exploding onto the deep house scene. Jones was voted the #1 DJ in the world by Resident Advisor last year, and Lee broke into the top 25 this year as well. After Hot Natured’s chart-topping hit “Forward Motion,” which featured the haunting vocals of veteran producer Ali Love, Jones and Foss decided to bring Ali Love and his Infinity Ink teammate, Luca C, onboard for the super-group project.
Just in this past year, the group have added vocalist Anabel Englund, released one of the most heavily-charted songs of 2012 in “Benediction,” and have taken the DJ project live (the quintet is seen above playing live from Brixton. From left to right: Luca C, Anabel Englund, Lee Foss, Ali Love, Jamie Jones). The newest EP features the extremely infectious original mix of “Reverse Skydiving,” as well as a slew of remixes from Shadow Child, Deetron, and my personal favorite Robert James. With a unique sound that blends underground house with poppy vocals, it’s safe to say that Hot Natured is about to make some big waves internationally.
If you’re luck enough to be in NYC or Chicago this summer, Hot Natured will be making the debut of their live set in U.S. during the first week of July! They will be playing their phenomenal live show at Terminal 5 on July 6th (ticket info HERE), and will be playing at Wavefront Music Festival that week as well (you can buy tickets to Wavefont HERE)
