Joey Bada$$‘  follow-up to the spectacular 1999 mixtape that took the hip-hop world by storm with its boom-bap beats and throwback flows has unexpectedly been released today, after multiple delays. We’ve heard “’95 Til Infinity”, along with the MF DOOM-produced “Amethyst Rockstar” and both tracks got us incredibly hyped for what is sure to be a mixtape that will be bumped on the speakers all summer. Now it’s here, and it’s sixteen tracks of exactly what we wanted to hear from Joey Bada$$– he hasn’t changed his style or sold-out, but he has expanded and improved on the mixtape that was released when he was just a 17 year-old high school student. Lots has changed for the Pro Era crew in the past year, but Joey Bada$$ still has kept most of the production in-house from producers Kirk Knight and Chuck Strangers, and offers plenty of chances for fellow crew members to show off their rap skills. In a summer where there are too many great hip-hop releases to keep track of, this one is definitely going to be on high rotation; and it seems others think so as well, because Summer Knights crashed both DatPiff and LiveMixtapes when it first dropped. So if you’re having trouble with the download, check back later. #RIPSTEELO
