Piano chords open this indie nu-disco remix to a summer track. Australian record label Future Classic brings us Panama and their remix to an island-y, feel-good, dance track “Cape Town” originally by Clubfeet. Panama is derived from the classically trained pianist, Jarrah McCleary who grew up on the Northern Territory of Australia. After traveling around Europe, Japan and America he pieced together a five-person band. Their last album was produced in LA by Eric Broucek who’s worked with LCD Soundsystem and Holy Ghost! Panama creates songs with sun-soaked, 80’s vibes blended with a funky modern tone. And when the lyrics to their remixed song are “Everybody buy me a drink- it’s my birthday”, can anything go wrong? The track’s sound has a lot in common with any Toro y Moi song. The funky, smooth relaxed rhythms keep the dance vibes bouncing. It also contains electronic beats resembling steel drums that add a beachy sun-kissed mood. The additional piano chords plus island sounds make this track catchy and unique and perfect for any summer get down.
