The Weeknd gives us a stellar remix of Kavinsky‘s “Odd Look”. The French electro producer, Kavinsky, is responsible for my favorite album to listen to while driving with his release of Outrun this past February (read review here). Kavinsky made heads turn in 2010 when “Nightcall” appeared in the opening credits to the Ryan Gossling flick, Drive, and has captivated his fan base ever since. I vividly remember the first time I listened to his debut, solo album while driving to Denver feeling like I was Jason Statham in an epic car chase scene. Today, Kavinsky released his Odd Look EP, including this gem of a remix featuring the ever seductive Ontario crooner, The Weeknd.
The Weeknd always has progressive, electronic production on his tracks similar to the likes of Kavinsky, and this track makes perfect sense. Born Abel Tesfaye, The Weeknd held his first ever interview with complex recently (read here) revealing how easily the creative process comes to him ” With me, everything is a blank canvas. I’m painting this canvas by whipping the colors. I want to show the world that I can shit out albums like nothing.”. This 23 year old is truly something special as he pushes the boundaries, and progresses the art of R&B as we know it.
