If there is one name that house music fans have taken notice of this past year, it has been Hot Since 82. The British producer has been on a meteoric rise in popularity, with his stunning remixes of artists such as Green Velvet and Shadow Child being a staple in many DJ’s sets. He also quickly fell onto the radar of BBC Radio 1, releasing an Essential Mix back in August. This week Hot Since 82 treated fans to a teaser of his debut LP off Moda Black “Little Black Book”, as well as the news that every week until its October release one new track from the album will be debuted via his Soundcloud. The first track to emerge is “Chords”, a deep track with a killer groove. The overall tone of the track is dark and sinister, with the vocals paying homage to that classic house sound. It’s a modern update to early underground house and garage tracks that Hot Since 82 is clearly inspired by. While Hot Since 82’s tracks are consistently impressive, “Chords” comes with a level of sophistication that signifies just how far the producer has come and where he is headed for the future.
