Recorded live in his Ibiza apartment overlooking Talamance Bay, Israel’s Guy Gerber takes us on an incredibly emotional 2 hour journey made possible by the BBC Radio 1’s Essential Mix. Over previous years, Guy Gerber has been making huge strides in the international electronic music scene, and 2013 is a year of no exceptions. Gerber is the founder of the hugely successful Israeli label Supplement Facts which provides him with the perfectly unconventional platform to experiment with deep house, pumping techno and live electronic beats that stem from his love of organic sounds and his passion for the expression of artistic freedom. This summer, Gerber took his influence in the scene once step further by starting his own party on the White Isle of Ibiza, doning the unique name of “Wisdom of the Glove”. The night proved nothing but successful, bringing in artists like Four Tet, DJ Koze and John Talabot. This week, Gerber pushes boundaries even further by giving us a sensational Essential Mix debut which he dedicates as “a farewell to the summer and a hello to the autumn”.
The mix features fresh new tracks that inspired Gerber during the summer season in Ibiza and on his extensive time on this summer’s festival circuit. Personal favorites include Dinky’s track “Falling Angel” released on Visionquest and his collab with Berlin’s Dixon, titled “No Distance”. Oh, and did we mention a crazy collaboration with P. Diddy? If you’re a fan of beautifully crafted electronic beats, then this week’s essential mix is not to be missed. Stream it on BBC Radio 1’s website and download it below for free via SoundCloud.
