avatism-vakant-adamantAfter his debut album, Adamant, dropped on native Berlin label Vakant last month, Thomas Feriero, aka Avatism, has been the center of a different kind of buzz in the underground scene. Avatism’s sound, both live and recorded, expresses a sort of dark and mischievous vibe through its layers of loosely conceptualized beats, which clearly lay homage to his homebase, techno. However, Avatism tests the boundaries of today’s techno by adopting a different approach to producing his thirteen track debut album. Each hypnotically ominous track was purposefully written in no more than a day, allowing Avatism not to rethink the purpose of his tracks, but to capture his intuitive artistic expression without second thought to the industry’s demands.  Laden with a variety of lush tempos and rhythms, the album breathes fresh air into the hopes of discovering uncharted techno territory.

The album’s pinnacle track is without a doubt “Different Spaces”, whose ominous rolling beat is crafted to compliment the sultry vocals of Forrest himself. Lucky for us, Avatism is celebrating Adamant’s well deserved praise by giving away “Different Spaces” as a download on his SoundCloud. Grab your free download of the exceptional track below and if it touches your soft spot for European techno, be sure to stream the full album on his SoundCloud.
