The Knocks have been a duo on our radar for quite some time now. Over the past year the New Yorkers have been a staple in the festival circuit, even playing Chicago’s own North Coast Music Festival. They have countless remixes in their arsenal; ranging from hip hop acts such as Wale, indie acts Tegan and Sara and Santigold and electronic artists such as Goldroom. With their debut full length album set to be released in 2014 on Interscope, their original productions have only gotten stronger as time goes on.
Perhaps what truly put them on the map however was their original track released this past summer, “Modern Hearts”. Featuring vocals from electronic artist St. Lucia, “Modern Hearts” synth heavy and uplifting dance track with pounding bass and catchy hooks. It has caught the attention of plenty of producers, with remixes emerging from countless artists including Amtrac, Funk LeBlanc, and Keljet. The latest producers to provide their own take on “Modern Hearts” is the duo Final DJs. German producers Basti and Thomas take the punching electro track and twist it into a nu disco track with a groove hot enough to melt the winter snow and bring back the summer heat. Final DJs strip the heavy sound from the original away and replaces it with house style piano solos, funky bass and disco claps. The producers let the vocals remain the highlight of the track, playing up the soulful nature of St. Lucia’s voice and highlighting it through sleek 80s style synth lines. It’s a stylish and catchy remix that will have you rushing to the nearest dancefloor. The track is available as a free download so make sure to grab it below.
