Back in 2010, Hot Creations shot off with a bang. With producers Jamie Jones and Lee Foss at the helm, Hot Creations has quickly become a pioneering record label home to countless heavy hitters in the house and indie dance scene. Today the label continues to be at the top of its game, from hosting rooftop parties in Los Angeles to closing out summer sessions at DC 10 in Ibiza. Hot Creations’ roster has only increased in size, being home to artists such as Clockwork, Danny Daze and Infinity Ink.
Hot Creations met its debut with London producer Jamie Jones’ EP, Ruckus. Having over ten years of production under his belt, Ruckus‘ deep and melodic sound set the stage for the signature sound music aficionados would soon begin to associate Hot Creations with. After producing records for labels such as Crosstown Rebels as well as being a member of indie super group Hot Natured, Jones finally makes his return to Hot Creations with his latest EP, Planets, Spaceships. After teasing the tracks all summer, Jones recently released snippets of the four track EP onto his Soundcloud. Set for vinyl release on November 18th, Planets, Spaceships harkens back to the early days of the record label with a dark and deep sound that listeners won’t be able to shy away from.
The EP starts off strong with the title track, a heavy and bouncing house track with featuring melodic vocals from Daniella Caldellas of upcoming Hot Creations artist Digitaria. The rave style build ups play off the heavy bass, creating a playful juxtaposition with the exotic vocals of Caldellas. The standout track off the EP is “Cookie Monster”, a minimal house track that has been a favorite amongst Jones’ summer sets. With its buzzing synth lines and dark bass lines, “Cookie Monster” is a clean and seductive track that sets the tone for the rest of the EP. “Starp Trek” and “Stick” take things in a deeper direction, giving the EP a fresh and modern feel while still maintaining its early 2000’s minimal sound that Jones grew up with. The entire EP is available for purchase on Beatport, be sure to stream the album below and buy it here.
