SLEEPWALKR-01

Nothing says spooky like a little witch-house and lucky for you, today we have a healthy dose of the creepy vibes thanks to our homie SLEEPW∆LKR.  Most definitely the ugly step-child of house music, witch-house is a version that will chill you to the bone, but you’ll enjoy it the whole way through.   The genre doesn’t necessarily stay within the realm of house music tempo either, witch-house is a name that gradually popped up because no one else knew what to call it.  Characterized by dark-themed sounds, erie soundscapes, chopped and screwed hip-hop beats, drum machines, etc.  Witch-house has kept a very low profile over the last few years, but every once in a while you stumble across artists that is keeping it alive.  One such artists that helped pioneer the original sound was Salem, he’s kept quiet over the last year or so, but if you’re looking to discover more witch-house, that’s certainly a great place to start.

SLEEPW∆LKR gives us the NIGHTM∆RE EP, packed with two originals and one remix.  The title track, “NIGHTM∆RE” will set the overall tone in seconds; starting with unsettling samples from Silence Of The Lambs, gradually we build into one scary tune.  Up next is “COVEИ”.  Another tune with a movie sample, this time it comes from Bane in The Dark Knight Rises.  We get some more of the same dark sounds to swerve to, but the last minute or so we transition into a syrup-coated screw that will put you over the edge.  Finally, closing out the EP is a Rihanna remix, and you know you can’t go wrong with that.  I won’t surprise any listeners, but I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.  Though this EP would have been perfect for Halloween, this cold months feel just as appropriate.  Stay spooky my friends.
