Native to the Siberian state of Russia and to the sound of excellent techno, Nina Kraviz isn’t afraid to be who she truly is in an industry heavily dominated by male figures. Coming down from a sensational year, Kraviz spent the past twelve months earning her well deserved praise by spinning sets at esteemed locations all around the world, including her first ever Boiler Room set in Berlin. Throughout this, Kraviz miraculously found time to produce a second full EP, which is to be released on Rekids, her longtime favorite label run by the one and only Radio Slave. The EP is to be titled Mr Jones after it’s feature track, which Kraviz explains to be very special to her, as she produced it to be a homage to people who are never afraid to be who they really are. Two of the EP’s six tracks have been produced brand new, including “Remembered,” which Kraviz produced in the studio with Detroit legend, Luke Hess.
Mr Jones as an EP is a strong representation of Nina’s willingness to experiment with techno and acid-house to further push the boundaries of what the industry expects from her. Each track has a strangely appealing progression of its own, but if one thing remains fluid without, its Kraviz’s passion to explore the darkest corners of techno and make them sound just like home.
