It has been a little over a year since we have heard from Seth Haley, perhaps better known as the cleverly named producer Com Truise. The Princeton, New Jersey native once lived a life as an art director, but as soon as he found his footing as Com Truise he quickly turned in his resignation. He has been making waves since his debut album in 2011, Galactic Melt, which sought critical acclaim and earned him a place on numerous festival circuits including the Detroit Electronic Music Festival. As a follow up, Haley released In Decay, an LP of rarities and B-sides; a move which many deemed strange for a producer who only had one album prior. It’s tone had somewhat strayed from Haley’s signature sound and had gained a much hazier tone.
In the past few months, Com Truise has released several remixes for artists such as Blood Diamonds, Sally Shapiro and most recently Bloodgroup. Hot on heels of these releases fans also received the long waited announcement of Wave 1, Com Truise’s latest EP on the way. They were also given a taste of what is to come with the latest single off of the EP, “Declination,” which is a welcoming return to form. It opens up strong with heavy glitches and spacey synths, followed up by stylish piano and bass lines. Joel Ford of Ejecta provides the vocals, which romantically lull over the heavy kickdrums. “Declination” is a dreamy and 80’s infused track which sounds like it leapt off of someone’s old 8-track player. Wave 1 will be released in February on Detroit label Ghostly International, be sure to stay tuned on its release and check out “Declination” below.
