With Thanksgiving only a few days away we are sure many of you can’t stop yourselves from dreaming of piping hot plates of turkey, delicious pies, and the heaping mountains of stuffing that will soon be finding their way into your tummies. As the tryptophan takes hold after you grub down on your Thanksgiving feast we are sure you will be dreaming of nothing but Earth Night after you read through this post. For those of you that have yet to hear, Papadosio is giving Colorado fans an early holiday gift this year by bringing one of their special Earth Night events to Denver on December 13th. With a bill that features live performances, speaking, and painting from Rising Appalachia, ESKMO, David Hale, Amanda Sage, Winona Laduke Honor the Earth, and other special guests still to be announced. This is sure to be a night to remember. As you can imagine Conscious Alliance will also be in the house excepting donations for the holiday season so don’t forget to bring something down if you have it!
Hot on the heels of their stellar performance with Lotus at Red Rocks Amphitheater this September, two nights at Resonance Music Festival, and a huge wave of shows on their Imaginal Cells Tours, the guys are excited to be headed back to Denver for this special evening. The original celebration sprouted in Columbus, Ohio where it soon became tradition for both Papadosio and their fans. This year they are still brining the love to Columbus while expanding the celebration to Denver for this special event at the Fillmore Auditorium in conjunction with Colorado’s Conscious Alliance. For those unfamiliar with the Earth Night celebration let us give you a brief introduction before giving you a taste of the supporting talent that will be at hand on December 13th. On December 21, 2012, deep in the heartlands of America, a small group of musicians, artists and spiritual activists organized a gathering. Earth Night celebrates the solstice in a ceremony of dance music, art, and spirit. As you can imagine the name is originally inspired by the globally celebrated Earth Day, a worldwide event with focus on environmental protection. Earth Night roots itself in understanding the struggle for human and environmental rights while taking time to see the wisdom and practices of the ancient people that once connected us to our planet in ways we hardly have the language for today.
That being said, there is sure to be some special energy flowing around the Fillmore in just a few weeks. For those of you not too familiar with the supporting acts we thought we would slide a few teasers in here below because they are truly some very talented artists. Rising Appalachia is a talented team that produces genre morphing worldly folk and soul music. Sisters Leah and Chloe, along with their incredible crew have been wooing audiences around the world with their harmonic voices and unique style of performance. Over the past few years they have quickly sky rocketed into the public eye with this catchy and addictive style that they have quickly made their own. ESKMO (aka Brendan Angelides) is a talented producer with roots in Los Angeles. Throughout the years he has cemented himself in the bedrock of left field production by churning out waves of unique soundscapes. With a new album slated for release sometime near the end of 2014/early 2015 we can be sure to expect some new material to find its way into his set at Earth Night. In addition to the live performance pieces we will also be presented with live painting from the ever talented David Hale and the lovely Amanda Sage! As if this wasn’t already enough we will also be graced by the presence of Winona LaDuke, a highly renowned author, scholar, and speaker. She is an internationally renowned activist working on issues of sustainable development, renewable energy, and food systems. She lives and works on the White Earth reservation in northern Minnesota, and is a two time vice presidential candidate with Ralph Nader for the Green Party. We are excited to see what Winona has in store for us as this special evening quickly approaches!
