Our pal Owen Bones dropped his Headspin EP today, with three new originals including the dope “Coolguy.” Over the span of the EP, the Chicago producer shows off his meticulously executed sound design and ear for detail, never sticking to the confines of a genre while having a decidedly “Owen Bones” style.

“Coolguy,” the lead single, weaves percolated vocal samples around a steel-drum-heavy beat, perfect for a casual dance-off (as seen in the video for the track.) Switching gears, “Home Team” ups the low-end vibes for a strong focus on layers of various percussion, for a sound I’d like to call “the thinking man’s banger”. “Goldenboy” closes out the EP, full of assertive synths and and wobbling bassline vibrations before switching up the tempo in a double-time break.

After a string of acclaimed bootlegs released this fall, the originals on the Headspin EP are a fresh sample of Owen Bones’ immeasurable talent and will leave you eagerly waiting for what’s next from this producer. Download the EP for free now and keep it locked on Owen Bones’ socials!
